About the book

Mommy Goes Back to Work? is a fun, colorful, and motivational book for parents and children in transition. This book sheds light on a reality millions of Americans face every day.

The United States is the only high-income country in the world that does not guarantee paid parental leave (Heymann and McNeill 2013). According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, about 25% of women go back to work a mere ten days after giving birth.

My son and I returned to work together after four weeks of being home from the hospital. We faced all sorts of challenges during this transition, but I managed to provide amazing learning and growth experiences for him. Ultimately, it was a unique, fruitful experience for my family, and it can be for you as well.

I wrote Mommy Goes Back to Work? to support families exploring childcare options and to illustrate how key learning tools used in early child care groups will foster positive social, emotional, verbal, and physical growth and development.
